What is Data Center Interconnect?
Data Center Interconnect (DCI) is a private connectivity service that links your infrastructure across Sucura Networks facilities using dedicated Layer 2 paths. Instead of sending inter-site traffic over the public Internet, DCI gives you isolated VLAN handoffs, EVPL, or multipoint E-LAN services with predictable latency and security.
What is an EVPL?
EVPL (Ethernet Virtual Private Line) is a point-to-point Ethernet service that transports your frames between exactly two locations over our network. It behaves like a private wire between sites, ideal for stretching subnets, storage replication, or internal backhaul without routing through the public Internet.
Which locations can I connect?
DCI is currently available between our Toronto, ON and Montreal, QC data centers, connected by our own backbone. Contact sales with your bandwidth needs for a quote.
Do you have your own backbone?
Yes. Sucura Networks operates its own backbone between our two Canadian PoPs in Toronto and Montreal, providing dedicated capacity and ultra-low latency for Canadian inter-city connectivity. DCI services run exclusively over this backbone.
How quickly can a DCI circuit be provisioned?
Typical provisioning for private VLAN or EVPL service is within 24 to 48 hours after order confirmation and any required cross-connect details, subject to facility scheduling and technical validation at both ends.
Can I combine DCI with DDoS protection?
Yes. DCI carries private site-to-site traffic; many customers also use SucuraGuard DDoS protection on their public IP services at the same locations. Sales can design a solution where DCI backhaul and protected Internet-facing services work together.
